Ben's big-boy underwear, that is. He is all but potty-trained. He knows when he has to go, how to hold it, how to tell me. He is SO close. One minor caveat: he refuses to wear his underwear. He just doesn't want to; he'd rather wear diapers. It is beyond frustrating. He knows that until Emily is potty-trained, too, we'll always have them on hand. He knows that wearing the underwear means he has to use the potty every time. He is so stubborn!!! Emily, on the other hand, LOVES to wear his different character undies. If she finds a pair, she brings them to me and insists on wearing them right that second. She also loves taking turns sitting on the potty, though she hasn't actually gone yet. At this rate, she might be potty-trained before he is! They definitely act as encouragement for the other one, though. Monkey-see, monkey wants to try to do-do, too;) Like many of our parenting goals...we're working on it!

Belated Birthday
My 27th birthday was on the 1/25. We spent the morning attending the birthday party of one of Ben's friends. Afterwards, I went to lunch with two of my girlfriends and got pedicures afterwards. I came home and took a nap and then I went to dinner with my little family=) Despite being sick, it was a great birthday! Ben wouldn't wish me a "happy birthday" the whole day, but finally said it after dinner. Emily surprised me by saying, "Birfday, Mommy!!". Best.gifts.ever. The new cell-phone Dan got me was great, too!
Since my birthday was already so action-packed, my mom brought me over a cake at a later date. We had fun singing "Happy Birthday" and enjoying our cupcakes. Ben mostly liked the frosting and "pinkles" as he calls them. As usual, Emily enjoyed her's with the gusto of a gourmet.

Time for a haircut!
I misplaced my shears and poor Milly has been resembling a sheep-dog for weeks now. My mom bought me a pair of cheap-y drugstore scissors just so I could trim Mill's bangs=)

Mmmmm....Ice Cream!
Sorry for the lack of recent blog-entries! Last Sunday was my birthday and guess what I got! A super-nasty cold that I passed on to Dan, Emily and Ben(in that order). Needless to say, we've been barely human lately and not really photo-worthy. As a special, "Get Well Soon" treat, Mimi took us to Coldstone Creamery the other day. It was her first time, but Ben, Emily and I are long-time fans=) She snapped these photos of them enjoying their ice-cream cones.

Sports Stars
Ben and Emily loved playing sports at their friend Kai's birthday party! Emily practiced for the WNBA and worked on her b-ball skillz. Ben loved "playing baseball!" with his buddy. They took turns hitting the ball off a T-stand and Ben was really good! It was his first time putting bat to ball and he rarely struck out. Here's hoping these two earn some big, pro-sports $$$ in their future=)

Iron Chefs
Hazel and Emmie decided to try on the chef outfits Mimi gave the kiddies for Christmas. They had tons of fun modeling their aprons and playing in the little kitchen=)

Snuggle Naps
Emily and I co-slept for her first year(more because she wouldn't sleep in her crib for any length of time and because I breastfed her for 13 months). It's almost like a "Pavlovian response" when we lay down to cuddle. Inevitably, one of both of us falls asleep within minutes! Some habits die hard=)
